Have you wanted to shear your alpacas but thought it was too difficult? Well, Mr. Bill Watkins w ill be putting on his annual Shearing Seminar at Alpacas of Rain Dance Pond this May 17th in Oppenheim/Dolgeville, NY.
Bill is a Master Shearer who has not only been raising alpacas for years (Frostglenn, Loudon, TN) but also invented the widely used alpaca restraint - the Pro-Tie. He has developed his shearing seminar to cover all the necessary aspects of getting the fiber off an alpaca safely and quickly (This will be a more intense program of the one Bill gives at the Nationals).
If you have the desire to become less dependent on the whims of traveling shearing professionals now is the time to sign up for Bill’s seminar. So that everyone has the full attention that learning a new skill requires we limit the class size to 12.
Our seminars include a through discussion of the tools needed (bring yours if you wish) along with both lecture and hands on time...by the end of the seminar each participant will have had the opportunity to shear an alpaca.
Along with the in depth approach Bill takes there is time for questions and individual help as your skills develop. It goes without saying that after you leave you’ll have many questions and Bill will be available via phone to help you through those difficulties.
Our seminars provide you with welcome coffee and rolls, refreshments throughout the day and a catered luncheon.
